The OHARAME KIMONO JACKET is 100% made in Japan.
Its fabric is a 参 mile original―specially developed for this collection and not available on the general market.
This unique textile was created in collaboration with Toushou Inomata, a historic Japanese textile producer founded in 1896 in Yonezawa, Yamagata Prefecture.
They are renowned for producing *Yonezawa-ori, a traditional woven kimono fabric with deep regional and cultural roots.
The jacket’s fabric is woven using a meticulous traditional method known as “Saki-zome” (pre-dyeing).
Unlike printed textiles where patterns are applied after the fabric is made, this technique involves dyeing the threads first, then carefully weaving them to create depth, richness, and subtle gradation―hallmarks of authentic kimono craftsmanship.
*Yonezawa-ori:
The origin of Yonezawa-ori is when Lord Uesugi Yōzan, the 10th feudal lord, encouraged silk weaving in this region.
The tailorling is entrusted to Otozuki Shouten, a long-established factory also based in Yonezawa.
Originally specializing in traditional kimono outerwear, the factory now applies its time-honored skills to Western-style garment as well.
Their motto: “There’s nothing we can’t sew.”
As their product manager says,
“We strive to create clothing that makes the wearer's silhouette look beautiful.”
We hope you will enjoy this piece in your hands―crafted with the passion of Japanese artisans devoted to traditional craftsmanship.
